State of the Dread: Jun 25-July 1

She is the best little puppy. Her name is Tiger Lily and she got tons of love on our camping trip last week. Also we learned she is not a water dog.

WRITING

I got one Upstream article written, I punted on Mercury and was going to review a graphic novel we got from someone, but it was pretty terrible. The focus of that site is to find things people would want to read. That one just sucked.

I read another chapter or two of HOWLING WILDERNESS to the HammerWife.

SHERIFF PORTER crossed the $300 mark and is inching closer to $400. There is one week left. Get it across the finish line!

READING

Finished THE HAUNTED MESA and MORNING STAR (4th time on that one.) Man, I’m really not looking forward to reading the next Red Rising book, IRON GOLD is when the series took a downward turn. I was less excited about reading it at that point.

Now comes the week of Graham Eating His Vegetables: I have to read THE TRANSGENDER-INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX. I’ve simultaneously been looking forward to this one and also putting it off, just because I know it will be dense and exhausting. But a few hours a day can get me through it, and then I’ll have a detailed review over at CrackerStack.

Speaking of CrackerStack, I’m doing my review of Haunted Mesa over there soon. It’ll be the eventual script for my YouTube video on it.

Also, while I’m in between sessions of TTIC, I’m going to start on those Czech Monster Hunter shorts. Should be great little palette cleansers.

DRAWING

Did more thumbnails for HOWLING WILDERNESS. Fewer than I would have liked, but the minimum was met, and that’s what counts.

Only one person reading this website has read HOWLING WILDERNESS, so he knows who that is with the gun, and who’s on the ground. The rest of you will have to wait, but you’re gonna love it.

AUDIO

Despite going live late, there is in fact a Radcracker this week. Subscribe on AppleGoogle, or Spotify. This week I announced some minor format changes going forward, should help get the show back to what it was in its book-hocking days.

VIDEO

I followed up with my attempt at LitRPG again.

Also, my phone has been having memory problems, which makes it hard to record videos on the fly. I think I have a fix, so soon it won’t be a problem. Once I have that locked down I can make more stuff.

FITNESS

I did the extra 60 pushups I needed during my Thursday-morning workout in the shop! Fortress Fatphobia is open for business, children! Yeehaw!

That brings the annual #PectoCracker count up to 13,400! We’re doing it!!!

By the end of June I need to be at 12,500 to be on pace for 25,000 this year. I’ll be 1,500 over the mark. Would have been more, but the switch to night shift really screwed me up for a month–I was doing 100 a day, which is the bare minimum.

Saturday is July 1st, which means that a new phase begins: #AbCracker. Let’s GOOOOOOOOOO.

State of the Dread: June 18-24

Solstice hits this week, gangsters. We are officially in Hot Boy Summer. (The red hair dye was temporary, the pecs were not.)

WRITING

Utterly aborted this week. I’m committing to two Upstream articles to help the site catch up, we’ve all been busy this month. I need to review SHOOT THE DEVIL and probably a UR version of my Mercury review. It would be an easy plug.

Also, we added three more backers to SHERIFF PORTER on Indiegogo. If you’re reading this and you haven’t backed it yet, do so this week.

READING

I finished the other two books I set out to read last week, and I abandoned HE WHO FIGHTS WITH MONSTERS due to sheer boredom. This week I’m going to finish THE HAUNTED MESA and MORNING STAR. I’ll also read half of THE TRANSGENDER INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX and get to page 458 in LOST TREASURES volume 1.

Ugh, I should have finished that book ages ago. Alas.

DRAWING

As promised, I put up a new banner on the YouTube Channel. Even better, I’ve been doing thumbnail drawings for HOWLING WILDERNESS. We’re officially grinding on this one.

This week I will get

AUDIO

New Radcracker, this one was more fun.  AppleGoogle, or Spotify.

VIDEO

I did two vids and one of them took off, relatively speaking. Here’s the one that didn’t:

This week I’m following up on the LitRPG scene with my video explaining why I won’t finish HE WHO FIGHTS WITH MONSTERS (it’s boring).

FITNESS

We tacked another 700 pushups on in four days. I didn’t do any on Saturday, I had a full schedule on both of my days off. Nevertheless, this gets us to 12,640. This week I’ll commit to repeating the 700 and doing two sets of 30 to get me to 13,400. I’ll be well past 14k when July hits.

I didn’t do the Saturday workout either. Bad. I can’t recommit for this week either because I have a prior commitment. Maybe I can do the shop workout on Thursday, with Saturday as my rest day. I still weigh 212 and my formerly tight work shorts are fitting better again.

State of the Dread: June 11-17

Bought my first Sooners hat this week. I’m in the club now.

WRITING

The big piece was my review of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts on the CrackerStack. This week I’m writing at least one review for the Stack, and one for Upstream. Then I’ll read a chapter of HW to the wife.

The Sheriff Porter IGG is going well, if a little bit behind. Thanks to those who have backed, and to those who have not, there is still time.

READING

I’ve been slogging, It’s June 11 and I have only finished two books. This week I WILL finish that LitRPG I started, and also 2 other books (MHM Grunge, and Mercury Rests by Kroese). I just bought a ton of stuff on Audible because they had a sale, FML.

DRAWING

Did some thumbnails for HW, nothing major. This week I will finish all thumbnails for that project, probably over 2 or 3 nights. Gotta start hitting that hard if I want to get it out this year.

You know what though? I’m going to do better art for my YouTube banner, the one I have up right now isn’t great.

AUDIO

New Radcracker, very short. Subscribe. AppleGoogle, or Spotify.

VIDEO

The new mic doesn’t do the job. So I just analog’d it and did this video with the built-in. I’ll figure something out. Go watch this video and give me views.

FITNESS

I added 630 pushups to the annual count, bringing the total to 11,940. Could have crossed 12k if I didn’t wuss out at the end of the week. I slept a LOT more than usual so I must have needed it. Went hard for a few days there.

This week I will do 180 pushups for five days, with Thursday as my break day. Saturday I will get up and work out in the shop around 4am, even if all I do is pushups. Specific goals, people. Metas especificas.

State of the Dread: June 4-10

The Sheriff Porter IGG campaign is now live. You can get the eBook for just $5, but there’s a paperback available for $10 plus shipping. Let’s gooooooooo

WRITING

Editing HOWLING WILDERNESS by reading it to the wife. Also wrote a few posts over at the CrackerStack.

READING

Finished some audiobooks, finally. Got some more on the way for this week. Sorry I’m being intentionally brief, but also giving myself some flexibility in the audiobook space.

DRAWING

Doodled here and there, nothing earth-shattering. This week I start the thumbnails for HW.

AUDIO

New Radcracker. Subscribe. AppleGoogle, or Spotify.

VIDEO

Re-did the Charlie Brown video with the new microphone. Audio quality is different. If I can’t get it set up right, I’ll have to return this microphone.

FITNESS

Did another 600 pushups and a full shop workout, which kicked my butt. I’ll get another one in this week. Once my abs and lats stop being so sore, I’ll create new workouts for them. PectoCracker is up to 11,810. We’ll blow past the halfway point of 25,000 this month, now that I’m back on track.

Get after it.

Fund the print edition of SHERIFF PORTER today!

The campaign for SHERIFF PORTER went live yesterday and it’s off to a happy start! 4 backers got it 15% funded already! This is only my second crowdfunding campaign ever, it’d be really cool to get it all the way to the finish line.

Here’s the simple video I cut for it, and you can find the whole campaign here! Thanks everyone.
